Welcome to BANGOR MAINE, the year is 1988.

Moving marks a new begining for everyone, but for the Creed family, it marks the begining of the end. Louis Creed has just moved his wife, Rachel, they're daughter, Ellen, and they're toddler son, Gage, from Chicago to Bangor Maine. Everyone is excited, yet no one knows the deadly secret behind the house and land they will soon reside on.

As if the trouble couldn't start soon enough, Rachel and Louis begin to un pack the family station wagon as Gage and Ellen play in the yard. "Mommy Daddy, I see a path" Ellen exclaims while swinging on a tire swing in the yard. Unfortunatly, the tire swing Ellen had been playing on had broke, and down went Ellen. Her parents run over to help they're screaming daughter as an ORINCO truck passes by. Gage lets this one pass, and walks out in the road to greet the other one. Finally, Rachel realizes Gage is missing. After they look up to see him standing in the road, they run for him, but a kind old man from across the way grabs him just in the nick of time.

"Hello, I'm Judd Crandel, I live just across the road". Judd would later regret that walk across the road. Later in the evening, Louis walks over to Judd's for a beer, which is when Judd explains what the path is, and where it lead to.. . . . .  The Pet Sematary.

When Louis starts his first day of work, as a doctor at the University Of Maine, a young man come's in, half of his skull missing. He was struck by an Orinco truck. Louis dismisses his staff to sit in the room with the dead (or dying) young man. Louis places his hand over his eyes, to close them. In is split second, the young man (PASCOW, VICTOR) jumps up (not sitting up, but holding his head up) and speaks to Louis . . " The soil of a mans heart is stonier, Louis. I'll come to you". Later in the evening, as he lie in bed with Rachel by his side, Pascow wakes him. Pascow then leads him to the Pet Sematary and warns him about going beyond the pet sematary.

There is a secret to it though, behind the pet sematary, behind the blow and up into Rual Maine, where only the brave travel, is an old Indian Burial ground. Which is rumored to bring the dead back to life.
Rachel and the children go to Chicago for THANKSGIVING, Louis decides to stay behind, due to his hate for Rachel's father, Ewin.
When Ellen's cat dies, Judd takes Louis up the the Indian Burial Ground to burry the cat. And the cat comes back.

After the cat, the family's house keeper hangs herself in her basement. Then, tragedy hits the Family, and hard. While fying a kite in the feild beside the house, Gage looses grip on the kite. While they're bacs are turned, Gage hauls ass twoads the road, as an Orinco truck barrels down. Louis turns to see his baby running, and the truck coming. He runs, and trips. Gage was struck and killed.

Greiving, Louis does the un-thinkable. After getting into a fist fight at the funeral with Erwin (Rachel's Father), he sends Ellen and Rachel home with Rachel's parents, agreeing he would meet them there. While they're gone, Louis digs up his son's body, and brings it up to the burial ground . . . . .
